DOUGLAS ANIMAL WELFARE GROUP WELCOMES YOU
Bettering the lives of Douglas County Animals
At Douglas Animal Welfare Group we’re raising funds and promoting initiatives to serve the people and animals who need them most. We believe in taking action with urgency in order to raise public awareness about some of the most pressing issues facing today’s society. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of Douglas County animals.
Thanks to everyone who voted DAWG the Best Non-Profit and Best Service Organization.

Our tails are positively wagging over the response to the “Made in the Shade” campaign. Since announcing the need to raise $43,000 to replace the shade structures in the dog exercise yards at the Douglas County Animal Services shelter, we have received nearly $38,000 (as of January 1) That means we only have $5,000 to go!

Why are new shade structures needed?

Shade structures protect volunteers, visitors and dogs from the desert sun, rain and snow while the shelter pups are getting precious time outdoors.
The current structures’ wooden posts are deteriorating, hastened no doubt by the number of dogs who lift their legs on the posts.
The roofs of two of the structures are tilting to the point that taller volunteers and visitors have hit their heads. The shade structure in the largest yard was placed in such a way that people must stand outside it during certain times of the day to escape the brutal desert sun.
The “Made in the Shade” will replace the current shade structures with ones made with dog-resistant materials. The shade structure in the largest dog yard will be bigger than the current structure and repositioned to avoid the sun.

Let’s finish this final fundraising ‘lap’ so our shelter dogs, volunteers and visitors are “Made in the Shade”!
All donations are appreciated; those donating $1,000 or more will be listed on a donor recognition plaque. To donate online, go to dawgrescue.com. Checks may be mailed directly to DAWG, PO Box 1850, Gardnerville NV 89410.
